The summer is flying by and I'm almost ready for it to be over! The allergens are higher in the summer so I have more asthma flare ups than during the winter, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine while it has been here.
In June I got visits from two of my favorite people: Matt and Halla. Matt stayed for a bit over a week, we got some BBQing done, some IKEA shopping and plenty of goods for him to bring back home (chocolate!). Halla came a few days after Matt left and even though I passed out on her (literally) we ended up having a great time regardless and it was great getting to see her again.
At the beginning of July my Mom and little sister (Sammy) came over and stayed for 4 weeks! We had some great times, going to Disneyland, the Mechelen Zoo, hanging out at the mall and just catching some rays out in the back yard. They left at the end of July and I began to miss them the day after!
I celebrated my 24th birthday on the 4th with a wonderful celebration at my house including Davy's family. I made a double layered vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. It was my first attempt in many years to make a buttercream frosting and I have to say that it came out wonderfully rich and light. I got a wonderful glass cake platter with a high rise lid to showcase my cakes for any future parties. I also decided to try an idea I found on the internet: Edible Flowers! It was such a treat to make and even better to see the looks on their faces as I ate dirt!
For more recent news: I got another cat, her name is Lexie and she's made herself at home in my house. I will try and get some non sucky pictures of her soon.
I went to Davy's sisters wedding (Liesje) yesteray and although it was a long day I'm really glad I was able to make it. I ended up requiring a nap at around lunch time but I made it all through the reception (and the food), the bride looked amazing, the families were great and overall we had an amazing time.
Now for some pictures, I hope you enjoy them all but I will put them under a cut so I don't destroy friend's lists!
